Free Huey emerged out of the passions of the Black Panther Party. Its founders were fighters, not runners in the face of adversity. When police incarcerated Panther leader Huey Newton, the community united not fled from conflict. Free Huey! became a war cry, channeling the spirit of those in the 1960’s and 1970’s who committed their lifestyle toward social change.
